Twenty Eighth Sunday
Jesus taught us that loving God is the most important thing we can do above all things, but Jesus also taught us that you cannot truly love God if you do not care about other people, especially those who are ill, struggling or poor. The way we treat others shows whether our love for God is real. The Bible says, “No one has ever seen God, but if we love each other, God lives in us.” So, loving others and loving God go hand in hand. Even if someone doesn’t mention God directly, any act of kindness or love toward others is still a reflection of God’s love. Jesus said, “Whatever you did for the least of my brothers and sisters, you did for me.”
That is why helping others, especially through acts of kindness, charity and mercy, is a sign that our worship of God is genuine and true. Worship is not just about praying; it is also about letting God change us so we become more like Jesus, showing love and mercy to those who need it most. Worship should help us stop thinking only about what benefits ourselves, and instead open our hearts to giving freely. Jesus said that when you throw a party, don’t just invite your friends or rich people who can pay you back! Invite those who are poor or disabled, people who
cannot repay you and then you will be truly blessed.
