Ann O’Connor: Retirement 31 August 2025

Father Edmund

27th July 2025

Ann O’Connor, who first began working for the Church in 2016, will retire effective 31 August, 2025.

On behalf of the Parish, I want to express our thanks to her for all her hard work, invariably going above and beyond her role. I would say that from the first day I arrived in 2021, I have relied upon her professional, efficient, discreet, supportive, and creative skills, talents, and abilities. Parish Priests lead, but a good Parish Secretary is the one who truly runs the Parish!

Ann has been far more than a Parish Secretary, fulfilling roles of counsellor, confidante, and first contact for Parishioners and callers at the Presbytery, offering pastoral care and compassion to those who seek advice, food, shelter, warmth, or to speak to a Priest. Much of what I have been able to achieve as Parish Priest over the past four years has invariably been with her help and support; it has not been easy being parish priest of Ellesmere Port and Hooton, but I always counted myself very blessed to have Ann working alongside me.

Dear Ann, Thank you for all your work - most of which is hidden, unseen, and confidential - and on behalf of the Parish, I wish you a long, fruitful, enjoyable, and happy retirement! I will be making a presentation to Ann of a gift from the Parish to help her begin her retirement and as a small token of our thanks - in the hope that she will treat herself.

God bless you, Ann, and thank you.

A Thank you for Ann O'Connor
A big thank you to Fr Edmund for his kind words, card, and gift from the Parish following my retirement. It has been an absolute privilege and a pleasure to work alongside Fr Edmund over the past 4 years. To the parishioners who have helped and supported me as Parish Secretary, I am truly grateful to you all. Thanks to everyone for your best wishes, cards, and gifts; you are super kind. With love and best wishes.
