All Saints
Solemnity of All Saints
Today we remember all those men and women, boys and girls, who now enjoy their Heavenly reward. Many of them are known to us, and many more still are unknown to us. They came “from all tribes and peoples and languages. Standing before the throne [of God]” (Rev 7, 9). They are proof to us, that everyone is called to the eternal banquet of Heaven, by the help of God and by freely corresponding to His grace. They were young and old, rich and poor, clergy and religious, husbands and wives, single people, etc. They intercede for us, and we are encouraged by the witness of their lives here on earth.
Remembering Our Faithful Departed
November is the month when we lovingly remember all the faithful departed. At every funeral Mass we are reminded that, for those who have died, life is changed—not ended. We remain united with them through our prayers, especially during this month. In the celebration of the Mass, we join the heavenly liturgy and are in communion with our loved ones who have gone before us. November invites us to cherish the memories we shared with them and to look forward with hope to the joyful reunion that awaits us in God’s presence.
