Second Sunday of Advent
Our journey towards the Advent of Jesus Christ continues; and in the passage for this Second Sunday of Advent from the Gospel according to Matthew, the call for repentance from John the Baptist rings true for us today. He says:
"'Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.' [...] 'Prepare the way of the Lord; make his paths straight.'" (Mt 3, 2-3)
As we prepare materially and in other ways for the Christmas celebrations, may we heed the words from this Gospel passage and prepare spiritually by going to the Sacrament of Reconciliation/Confession as part of that journey towards Christmas. May this Season of Advent be one of conversion and prayerful preparation for us as a People of God here in Ellesmere Port.
