Fr G’s Letter to our Young Parishioners

Dear Young People,
As the academic year draws to a close for most of you, I would like to thank and congratulate you for all you have accomplished thus far; and wish you all the best in what lies ahead as you take this next step in your educational growth.
As you head into the holidays when you have ‘freer time’, do not forget Jesus. Attend Mass every Sunday; go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation, read your Bibles, pray as a family; pray for your friends, teachers, neighbours, parents, etc. Jesus loves you and wants to be your friend. Do not be afraid to answer ‘Yes’ to Jesus’ invitation. Please, pray every day.
If you do not know how to pray, just tell Jesus you do not know how to pray. That is already a prayer. That is how the disciples approached Jesus in Luke 11;1 and asked him to teach them how to pray, and he taught them the Our Father. Jesus is your friend. Do not be afraid to go to him. He himself makes it possible for you to receive that life and practise it, with the help of his grace and the gift of his Spirit.
My dear friends, Our Lady Star of the Sea & St Bernard |St Saviour’s parish in Ellesmere Port needs you. Jesus invites you to be his shining and lively example. Do not be afraid to be different. Following Jesus may not be ‘cool’ in the eyes of the world, but it is worth it! You make a difference in this parish, and the church is not the same without you in it.
Please share this message with your friends who do not believe, or do not go to church anymore. Take a snapshot of the letter and forward to them or speak to them about it. Post it on your social media pages.
This is your parish, and it is not the same without you in it. The rest of the parish eagerly awaits you. Don’t just come back. Be active: sing, play a musical instrument, help with the foodbank, read, chat with the elderly, help tidy up, etc. Most especially, pray together with us, for we are one big family of God. We look forward to having you amongst us. God bless you, my dear young people. And remember…Jesus loves you!
